Explore eClass (Moodle) at your own pace by watching the online recorded sessions below. Please note these recorded sessions were developed in 2013 and, because of upgrades, there may be variations with your version of eClass.


eClass (Moodle) Basics

This session will introduce you to the basic features of eClass and give you the knowledge you'll need to develop a basic course on the system. The session will feature instruction, demonstration, and examples and allow participants to try out course development in a sandbox course. After finishing this session, participants should be able to:

  1. Explain what eClass can be used for
  2. Request their Bear Tracks courses in the system
  3. Navigate through the site to access courses, personal profile information, and to find help
  4. Construct a basic course by configuring settings, specifying the display format, and adding resources and activities
  5. Understand how to best manage and communicate with their students

Advanced eClass (Moodle) - Communication, Collaboration, and Course Administration

This session is designed for instructors, instructional designers, and other course administrators who would like to learn more about some of the advanced tools and activities in eClass used for communication, collaboration and course administration. Specific tools and topics covered in this session will include: Group Administration, Completion Tracking, Restricting access to resources and activities, running Reports, using Collaborative activities (Glossary, Database, Wiki), and Communication activities (Chat, Forums, Messaging, eClass Live) in eClass.

Please note that this session is intended for those users who have either attended the eClass (Moodle) Basics Training, or are already familiar with the eClass environment.

Advanced eClass (Moodle) - Assessment and Evaluation

This session is designed for instructors and instructional designers who would like to explore the available options in eClass for developing online activities to assess and evaluate student performance. While this session will focus on the two most commonly used assessment activities in eClass, Quizzes and Assignments, we will also explore a number of alternative assessment tools including Choices, Workshops, Feedback, Journals, Surveys & lessons.

Please note that this session is intended for those users who have either attended the eClass (Moodle) Basics Training, or are already familiar with the eClass environment.
