On May 6, 2009, Wenran Jiang, Mactaggart Research Chair at the China Institute and Associate Professor of Political Science, was invited to write an Op-ed article in Toronto Star, commenting on China's aggressive measures against the swine flu, including quarantining Canadians travelling in China and banning Alberta pork. Wenran advises Canadian Foreign Minister Lawrence Cannon to discuss these issues with persuation, not threat, during his scheduled visit to Beijing next week. Read the article here.
