Economic Development and Institutional Change in China (ECO 356 / POL 356)
A tour to Zhuhai, China, and beyond

Dr. Jérôme Melançon (Political Studies / Philosophy) and Dr. Varghese Manaloor (Economics / Business)

The course will take place in the Spring of 2015.

The course will provide insights into the part of the world that has the fastest growing economy. It will be team taught by professors in economics and political studies and will thus bring together the economic, political and cultural aspects of contemporary China.

Students and professors will travel to Southern China and spend two weeks visiting businesses, government institutions, cultural sites, and interacting with the local population, as well as attending lectures and discussion sessions.

The tour to China will take us, among other locations, to United International College (UIC), in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, near Hong Kong and Macau. It was jointly founded by Beijing Normal University and Hong Kong Baptist University and offers a range of courses taught in English to students from all over the world, as well as residential facilities.
