College Block Transfer
Continue your education with a degree from the University of Alberta! Build on your skills and knowledge with exciting research and study abroad opportunities, and even professional accreditations to advance your career.
Students who have successfully completed a recognized diploma at one of our partner institutions may be eligible for up to 60 transfer credits. Visit the institution website for a list of recognized diplomas and the corresponding University of Alberta degree programs. Additionally, you can refer to our Transfer Credit Search Tool for current equivalent course agreements for U of A courses from external institutions.
Admission information
To be eligible for the Block Transfer, you must present a minimum 3.0 GPA in the last 24 credits of the diploma program. If you do not meet the minimum GPA or you choose to apply to a degree not listed on our agreement with your institution, you will not be eligible for all transfer credit.
In addition, applications must still present required high school courses [Biology 30, Chemistry 30, Math 30-1] or a post-secondary equivalent.
GUIDELINES:
Diplomas completed at partner institutions coincide with specific degree programs within the Faculty of ALES. If a student wants to pursue an ALES program that is not compatible with the diploma completed, the block transfer agreement no longer applies and maximum transfer credits cannot be guaranteed.
In order for transfer credits to be granted at the U of A, the student must achieve a grade of a C- or higher in each course.

Transfer Credit
Transfer credit assessments are not completed until after a student has applied and official transcripts have been received. Once final transcripts are received, previous coursework is compared to the requirements of the new program and credit is given where appropriate overlap and sufficient grades exist.
Although a course may be considered transferable to UAlberta, it may not fit within the program to which a student has applied.
Due to volume, we cannot assess transfer credit (in person, via phone or email) prior to admission.
Transfer students within Alberta may use the Alberta Transfer Guide as a resource.
