Get to know... John Pho

This month, we’re excited to highlight John Pho, Academic Operation Officer at the Alberta School of Business.

What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend or day off?

Love spending time with the family outdoors for walks, parks, and farmers markets. But it is quite nice to stay home and relax as well. As my son would say, “stay home and hang out”.

What’s a book, movie or TV show you’re currently enjoying?

I don’t have much free time right now, but I do enjoy my occasional K-dramas and recently C-dramas. When my kids get older, it might be a family pastime, I did learn most of my Cantonese from shows when I was younger.

Do you have a favorite meal or go-to comfort food?

A homemade burger with a good sauce.

Can you share a bit about your role and what brought you to the Alberta School of Business?

I recently started a new role as Academic Operations Officer in the Master’s Office. I will be
focusing on the strategic and operational oversight of our Master’s Programs (MBA, EMBA,
MAcc and MMA). I started at the University of Alberta 9 years ago and was drawn to providing
support to students.

What’s been your most memorable moment at the Alberta School of Business so far?

I have met so many great people at the school and continue to do so. Hard to pinpoint a
moment, but lots of memorable conversations.
