Why Real Estate Education?

Recognizing both the need and the opportunity for growth in this critical area of business education and engagement, the Alberta School of Business and the real estate community partnered together with a common mission to "raise the bar" for real estate education in Alberta. The Real Estate curriculum at the Alberta School of Business works to provide real estate education for builders of communities recognizing that anyone in any career must share responsibility for our "built" environment and the role it plays in our daily lives.

OUR MISSION

To provide excellence in real estate education for builders of communities

Graduates with a real estate focus have a skill set and background allowing them to take on the challenge of working with high profile entities as evidenced by successful placements over the last few years. For example, graduates have joined Melcor, CBRE, Avison Young, Colliers, JLL, One Properties, AIMCo, Deloitte, Colliers, the Rohit Group, CanadaICI and Beaverbrook among others.

Real Estate at the Alberta School of Business:

• Has a core curriculum which matches some of the best programs globally
• Facilitates outreach to the industry through networking events, placement of students, and engagement with the industry and the community
• Has enhanced the level of applied as well as academic real estate research at the University of Alberta

Industry Night

The Real Estate Program partners with the student club, UARC, to meaningfully connect students with industry professionals. A keynote presentation and intimate roundtable conversations are facilitated, giving students a chance to learn about the industry and build their networks.

Career Opportunities

A concentration in real estate studies opens the door to endless possibilities in the global real estate industry. Beyond just an undergraduate degree, the program can also be used as a stepping-stone to graduate studies or a career in development, real estate marketing, or property management just to name a few.
