ASB Student Groups Handbook & Business Building Reference Guide

The ASB Student Groups Handbook includes important information, policies, and resources available to facilitate the smooth operation of ASB recognized student groups. 


The Business Building Reference Guide includes information about postering, administration, booking spaces, and policies relating to the ASB Business Building, including the Carruthers Student Commons space.

 

ASB STUDENT GROUP ANNUAL REPORTING AND STANDING
Important Information, Forms and Deadlines for Annual ASB Student Group Reporting, and Applications for ASB Standing and Recognition are below:

The Annual Report details your group's operations, activities and initiatives over the past year. This report is a requirement in order to be eligible to maintain and re-apply for ASB student group standing, and to receive funding and supports from the Alberta School of Business. 

ASB Student Group Annual Reporting Form - Submissions Due March - June 26, 2026

Current ASB student groups can reapply for standing each year after they have been re-registered by UASU - Student Group Services for the upcoming academic year, and filed their groups Annual Report.

We strongly emphasize the importance of fostering and encouraging Access, Community and Belonging (ACB) within all student groups. 

ASB Standing and Recognition Application Form: Open May - July 31, 2026

If you are a U of A - UASU recognized, registered student group on Rubric, and wish to apply to be a business student group with ASB Standing, please CAREFULLY review and complete the application procedure as detailed here - as the application is a multi-part process. 

A preliminary application with the Letter of Intent, and the BCC Letter of Support, as noted in the procedure document, may be submitted to bcomclub@ualberta.ca as soon as they are available. 

If ASB student group status is provisionally granted following review of the preliminary submission process, the student group will then be required to fill out the more detailed Application for ASB Student Group Standing (above) for final review and ASB Standing approval.

FUNDING RESOURCES 

U of A Undergraduate Student Groups that have Alberta School of Business (ASB) recognition and good standing have access to funding support from various ASB and U of A sources, as well as faculty guidance and support for enhanced fundraising and donor stewardship.

ASB FUNDING APPLICATIONS 

Student Groups recognized by the Alberta School of Business may apply for the limited funding available through the CWIL - Experiential Learning Office to support their events/initiatives. 

Funding requests must align with our primary goal of promoting professional skill development through experiential learning activities. The Bachelor of Commerce Funding Committee holds two application cycles in the Fall and Winter Terms, with applications open for a limited period each year:

Student groups are strongly encouraged to apply for funding during the Fall intake period, regardless of when the event/initiative is scheduled to take place.

In recognition of Student Groups needs and requests for financial support related to specific group or recurring event operational requirements, the Alberta School of Business is pleased to provide ASB recognized Undergraduate Student Groups with a limited amount of Operational Funding. 

This operational funding source was piloted for the 2025-2026 Academic year, and it may or may not be continued in perpetuity.

Information and requirements for Operational Funding for 2026/2027 will be made available in Fall 2026.

The Student Experience Fund (SEF) is pleased to launch the inaugural Building Equity, Leadership Opportunities, and Nurturing Growth (BELONG) Grant.

The grant funding awards $1,000 for upto 10 ASB Student Groups who best demonstrate the development and incorporation of meaningful Access, Community, and Belonging (ACB) principles and practices into their groups operations, and in their experiential learning activities, events and initiatives.
