MSc Program Requirements

Important to note: MSc students who wish to transfer to the PhD program must submit their PhD Proposals to the MSGPC within 24 months into their MSc program. Please discuss this ahead of time with your supervisory committee and the Graduate Program Administrator 12 months into the program if you are interested in transferring to the PhD program.

 

PhD Program Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 courses (6 credits) in Critical Reading/Thinking AND Background Knowledge
  • Participate in the Department Research Day
  • Ethics 
    • GPS - Academic Integrity and Ethics Training
      • INT D 710 (within first term)
      • INT D 720 (within year 1)
  • Professional Development (8 hrs & IDP)
  • GPS Progress Report (1x/year)
  • Supervisory committee meeting reports (at least 1x/year)
  • PhD Proposal (within 18 months of program admission)
  • Candidacy exam (Within 36 months if started as MSc, within 30 months if started as PhD)
  • PhD Thesis
  • Final oral examination
