ECE Undergraduate Lab Kits

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is convinced of the significant advantages of hands-on learning for our students! We are excited to continue offering our students affordable, high-quality electronic equipment and components that are ideally suited for use by students, hobbyists, and professionals both inside and outside the traditional classroom and laboratory settings.

Equipment kits have been available since Fall 2020 for purchase by ECE students, Course-specific lab kits have been a part of our program for many years. During the 2020/2021 academic year, we shipped lab kits to students learning remotely worldwide.

Beginning in Fall 2021, students who do not wish to purchase Equipment kits will be able to rent them instead. Rented Kits will need to be returned in good working condition to avoid additional charges. Unfortunately, due to the complexity of shipping internationally, we are unable to rent kits to remote students this year.

Please refer to the information below, and also check your courses’ eClass pages to determine if you need a lab kit. This information will also be posted on the “UofA ECE Labs” Discord. If one or more of your courses require a lab kit, you will need to order it through the marketplace early in the term to allow for adequate time to pick-up or receive it.

Please contact us at ecekits@ualberta.ca with questions or comments regarding these kits.
