Student Research

Being involved in a research project can be an excellent way for students to gain
further knowledge about Emergency Medicine and research methodology. The
department has a history of working with students of all levels of experience.
Many student projects have resulting in publications or presentations at major
conferences.

SUMMER STUDENTSHIPS
Faculty in the Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) will occasionally host
students for summer studentships. These positions generally last for four months
and are an opportunity for students to work closely with a research supervisor.
These positions are often funded by granting agencies such as the Emergency
Strategic Clinical Network or the Edmonton Emergency Physician's Association.
DEM faculty interested in hosting a studentship will post the positions on the
UAlberta website at https://summerstudentpositions.med.ualberta.ca/ under the
"Undergraduate Summer Student Research Projects."

Students interested in summer studentships are encouraged to apply early, as the
funding applications often have very specific deadlines. In addition, the number of
positions is very limited.
