The Department of Music is proud to welcome visiting guest artist and world renowned euphonium player Brian Bowman.

Brian Bowman, Virtuoso Euphonium Performer
Friday, October 16, 8pm
Convocation Hall , Old Arts Building
University of Alberta
Admission: $10 Students | $15 Seniors | $20 Adults

A world renowned pedagogue in brass performance, Bowman has both taught across the globe and played with some of the world's most outstanding musicians and ensembles. Playing the euphonium - an instrument of the brass family commonly referred to as the "tiny tuba" - with a flamboyant technical prowess and musical sensitivity rivaling the greatest performers on any instrument, Bowman currently teaches at the University of North Texas, where he instructs 26 private euphonium students - an impossible feat, considering most universities are luck to have one or two players only.
Bowman has recorded nearly every euphonium solo work in the repertory and has commissioned dozens of musical compositions for the instrument.
In addition to the concert, Bowman will also be holding an open Masterclass for Department of Music Students on Thursday, October 15 at 5pm in Convocation Hall
