The Department of Music is proud to announce a new study abroad opportunity open to Students interested in furthering their study of music in Cortona, Italy.

Each year, students from all?Faculties and?disciplines?travel to Cortona, Italy and enrol in courses that take advantage of this unique Tuscan location.?U of A professors conduct regular classroom lectures? on diverse topics like Renaissance Art, Roman Civilization, the Politics of Immigration in the European Union, Italian language, and new?in 2011/12, Political Science and Music. Studying at the School in Cortona is more than just attending lectures - it's about immersing yourself in a relevant cultural experience.

Dr Federico Spinetti, Assistant Professor in Ethnomusicology, will be teaching "Introduction to Modern Italian Musical Life: from Opera to Hip Hop" and "Music and Documentary Filmmaking."

"It should be noted this is the first time the Music Department features in the Cortona School program and that our students will have an opportunity to take courses of interest there," said Spinetti.
