New Edmonton Wind Sinfonia nominated for 2012 Western Canadian Music Awards

12 September 2012

The New Edmonton Wind Sinfonia, conducted by Ray Baril (BMus alumnus and current DMus student), received two nominations (Best Classical CD and Best Classical Composition) for the 2012 Western Canadian Music Awards for their CD "O Music - The Music of Allan Gilliland". Strong UA and Edmonton connections are associated with this CD -- it was recorded in Con Hall, Allan is an alumnus of the Department, as are Ray and many of the members of the Wind Sinfonia, it featured Edmontonians James Campbell and Dean McNeill, and it was produced by Jochen Eggert and engineered by Ron Yachimec. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in September.
