International baritone to work with Voice Area students this week

Internationally acclaimed baritone Jason Howard is coming to UAlberta this week to conduct a vocal coaching masterclass.

Internationally acclaimed baritone Jason Howard is coming to the U of A campus.

Howard, who is currently starring in Edmonton Opera's production of Donizetti's Maria Stuarda, will work with six Voice Area students in a master class on Wednesday, March 30. The session begins at 6 PM in Fine Arts Building room 1-29, and is open to the public.

Admission is free for the general public to attend.

Raised in the rich singing tradition of South Wales, Jason Howard is now recognised as one of the UK's leading performers on the international operatic stage. He continues to establish himself as a leading exponent of German heroic repertoire, with considerable acclaim as Wotan in Wagner's Ring Der Nibelungen and as The Dutchman in two international productions of Wagner's Der fliegende Holländer. Last spring, he performed the role of Enrico in Edmonton Opera's production of Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor.
