2021 ACTFL National Language Teacher of the Year

This school year has brought unprecedented uncertainty into the lives of our students. Join the ACTFL National Language Teacher of the Year to explore how world language learning can develop students’ communication skills and self-confidence. Acquire strategies to help learners lower their affective barriers, become more willing to take academic risks, practice the social-emotional skills necessary to build healthy relationships, learn resilience to cope with obstacles, and build a solid foundation of human connections to support their mental and emotional health. Participants will reflect upon what sorts of skills and attitudes they have used to navigate the difficulties of this year, and how they can explicitly and implicitly teach these very same skills to students in the world language classroom. Participants will take away ready-to-apply ideas to support their learners.

This workshop is open to the public.
