The University of Alberta in partnership with March of Dimes Canada (MODC), is excited to offer an annual weekend family camp for children who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Camp. This camp provides:

  1. Opportunities for children using AAC devices to communicate and build friendships with each other.
  2. A camp experience to children with disabilities, with a focus on social communication.
  3. Training and networking opportunities for parents and siblings of campers.

As part of the camp experience, campers and their families participate in activities such as arts and crafts, music, campfires, and outdoor activities. Each camper is supported by a student counsellor from the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine. These counsellors are supervised by experienced professionals in speech-language pathology, occupational therapy. assistive technology, or physical therapy.

AAC Camp Alberta was modelled after AAC Camp Idaho and operates as a sister camp.
