Dino Lab Virtual Tour

Welcome to The University of Alberta’s Dinosaur Preparation Laboratory: Dino Lab.

We are celebrating 100 years since dinosaur fossils were first prepared on campus in 1920 by George F. Sternberg who had a small workshop in the basement of North Lab (replaced by Cameron Library).

Now located in the basement of the Biological Sciences Building, our spaces were originally designed for Campus Radio & Television studios in the 1970's, then modified as a machine shop that supported various aspects of the Department of Physics. Since 2007 we have been preparing dinosaurs and other fossils—gigantic and small—from Alberta, across Canada, and around the world.

The Dino Lab is currently closed due to COVID-19 restrictions.
