We gathered to celebrate the life and career of Dr. David Schindler who passed away on March 4, 2021, at the age of 80. A world-renowned ecologist and environmentalist, David’s landmark research and passionate advocacy led to better protection of freshwater ecosystems and watersheds in Canada and around the world. Learn more about David and his incredible career.

A panel of David’s distinguished friends and family provided short testimonials for the first part of the program. We then opened the floor to individuals who wished to make a short statement about his contributions to their lives, science, or society more broadly.

Individuals wishing to contribute gifts in honor of David are requested to direct their attention to either the David Schindler Scholarship Fund at the University of Alberta or the Dr. David Schindler Summer Internship at the IISD-ELA.
