Nathan Sunday is a member of Goodfish Lake First Nation, but has lived in Edmonton, Alberta nearly all his life. Nathan graduated from the University of Alberta in June 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Native Studies and a Certificate in Indigenous Governance and Partnership.  

Nathan is committed to ensuring Indigenous Peoples are represented on governance and leadership boards. Nathan’s interest in governance and diversity has manifested in his involvement on numerous University governance bodies, including the Aboriginal Student Council, Students’ Union, and General Faculties Council. Additionally, he spearheaded the creation of, and chaired, the Students’ Union Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation Committee.
                     
He began his career in health care administration at the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch-Alberta Region (FNIHB-AB), a department of Indigenous Services Canada (ISC). Currently, Nathan is a Program Officer with FNIHB-AB’s Mental Wellness Unit. Through this work, Nathan focuses on providing First Nations communities, families, and individuals with mental wellness services and supports that are responsive to their needs and unique circumstances.
