About Caitlyn

Year of Study: 4

Faculty/Area of Study: Bachelor of Science, Psychology

What do you like about your program?
I love many things about my program, but above all else, I enjoy how applicable psychology is to my everyday life. It feels like an incredible opportunity to take what I've learned in my classes and use it to view situations differently.

What is one helpful tip for student success?
My advice is to make sure that you’re taking care of yourself and recognizing your needs outside of school. It’s easy to get caught up in academics and forget to take care of yourself, so whether it’s making sure you’re getting enough sleep or socializing, it’s important to prioritize yourself.

What are your interests/passions/hobbies?
I love animals, cooking, dancing, nature, reading, and watching TV.  I’m passionate about both mental and physical health. I also enjoy learning about what other people are interested in, so if you have anything that excites you, I’d love to hear about it!

I’m not sure if this counts as a talent per se, but I can get myself to stop hiccupping on command which I think is pretty fun.

Time management is super important. While that does include planning out your assignment and study schedule so you are not rushing at the last minute, it is also extremely important to plan breaks and days off. Planning breaks from work (and actually taking them - don't check those emails or read just one more chapter!) is super important for mental and physical health, and once you get back to work, you'll be much more productive!

What are your interests/passions/hobbies?
I'm a fairly active person and I love getting outside. I especially enjoy walking, hiking, biking, and swimming. I also love to sing! When I want to relax, chill video games and animated movies are my go-to.

What is one helpful tip for student success?
Strange as it may sound, I believe that school should be inherently enjoyable. So try to have fun with it! Make up stories, get to know your profs, study with a few friends, and treat your exams like Buzzfeed quizzes (but give your best answers, of course!). University becomes a much happier place when you approach it with a balanced, joyful attitude. The memories you make and the character you become is larger than an exam score. But for what it's worth, positivity => academic success as well!

What are your interests/passions/hobbies?
I love to read, though I finish books pretty slowly. I'm kind of a wannabe artist, so I love to draw/write/journal when I can. I'm passionate about mental health, the environment, and basically any cause for inclusion. And I love walking and having tea with friends! ;)

What's unique about you? Share a talent or amazing experience!
I don't have talents I think I could show off at parties, haha. But people tell me I'm calm, level-headed, and patient. So in a fast-paced world, I can find little moments of mindfulness!
