Analytics Technical Training Series

Enhance your classroom learning with practical skills! The Analytics Technical Training Series offers 2 levels of business technology management tools such as Excel, PowerBI, and other specialized topics to build your knowledge and understanding with hands-on experience.

Cost: Thanks to generous funding from the Student Experience Fund alumni donors, these sessions are free for students (A comparable training package would typically cost over $1000).
 

Level 1: Analytics in Action (Fall)

Visualizing Data with PowerBI – Thursday, September 24th, 6:00-8:00 pm or Tuesday, October 20th, 6:00-8:00 pm

Excel for Analytics – Tuesday, October 6th, 5:00-8:00 pm 

SQL Training - Wednesday, November 25th, 5:00-8:00 pm

  • Turn raw data into insight! This introductory level workshop will explore the fundamentals of SQL (Structured Query Language) using real-world data sets from the City of Edmonton Open Data Portal. Whether you want to learn how to analyze municipal trends, break into the field of data analysis, or simply learn more about the City of Edmonton's projects (on mosquitos and streetlamps), you will learn how to write queries to extract, filter, and analyze data. Participants will go from writing their first SELECT statements to being able to answer real-world questions about Edmonton.
