Both undergraduate and MBA students apply though the “Apply Here” button above.

• Submit a letter of intent. In 250 words or less describe how the Career Trek aligns with your interests and career aspirations.
• Respond to the Reflective Question noted in the Google form.
• Submit your up to date transcript.
• Submit a one page resume - Note that the selected candidates resumes may be sent to the participating employers ahead of time only if requested by the organization.

The adjudication committee places strong emphasis on the thoughtfulness and quality of your application. Your Letter of Intent, previous experiences, and interest in specific sectors help us determine how well the Trek aligns with your goals—and how we can ensure it's a valuable experience for you. We carefully review each application to select students who will not only benefit from the opportunity, but also aim to contribute meaningfully to discussions, actively engage with host organizations, and represent the University of Alberta with professionalism and curiosity.

While soliciting employment is not permitted during the Trek—including handing out résumés—the experience is designed to support your career journey in meaningful ways. The primary goal is career exploration, offering insight into industry practices, workplace culture, and potential career paths.

That said, the connections you make during the Trek can absolutely lead to future opportunities. Following up professionally with contacts, nurturing potential mentorships, and referencing your Trek experience in future applications or cover letters can help set you apart—and may even lead to a job down the line. That’s exactly the kind of long-term impact we hope these experiences create.
