Centre for Applied Business Research in Energy & the Environment (CABREE)
The Centre for Applied Business Research in Energy and the Environment (CABREE) is an independent research centre located within the School of Business at the University of Alberta.
Advancing Research. Informing Policy. Creating Impact.
As energy systems, climate policy, technology and geopolitics rapidly reshape the global economy, CABREE brings together researchers across economics, finance, business, public policy and related disciplines to generate rigorous, evidence-based research that helps businesses, governments and communities make informed decisions for a more sustainable and resilient future.
Our research addresses issues including energy markets, climate policy, international trade, clean technology, sustainable business, innovation and the evolving competitiveness of firms and regions. Through rigorous, data-driven analysis, we work with governments, industry and communities to develop practical solutions to today's most pressing challenges.
Beyond research, CABREE serves as a platform for collaboration — connecting scholars, policymakers, business leaders, students and community partners through conferences, seminars, partnerships, and knowledge mobilization. We believe that advancing research excellence requires diverse perspectives, meaningful collaboration, and opportunities for emerging talent.
