IMPORTANT - Fall 2026/Winter 2027 BCom Program Changes

As you prepare for course registration, please review the following important updates for the 2026-2027 academic year.

1. All Management Science (MGTSC) courses and several Operations Management (OM)  have been reclassified as Business Analytics (BUAN).

With the introduction of the new Business Analytics major, the Department of Accounting and Business Analytics has updated several programs and courses to better reflect student and employer demand.

  • All Management Science (MGTSC) programs have been discontinued
  • All MGTSC courses and several OM courses have been renamed to Business Analytics (BUAN)
  • Course numbers remain the same, but the subject code (i.e. MGTSC) has been updated
  • Full list of impacted courses:
    • MGTSC 212 → BUAN 212
    • MGTSC 405 → BUAN 405
    • MGTSC 455 → BUAN 455
    • MGTSC 488 → BUAN 488
    • MGTSC 495/496/497 → BUAN 495/496/497
    • MGTSC 501 → BUAN 501
    • OM 420 → BUAN 420
    • OM 421 → BUAN 421
    • OM 423 → BUAN 423
  • What This Means for You
    • Course content has not changed
    • You will not receive credit twice for equivalent courses
      • Example: If you completed MGTSC 212 you will not receive credit for BUAN 212
    • If you’ve already taken a MGTSC course, you do not need to take the BUAN equivalent to meet pre-/co-requisite requirements
  • Important Note
    • We are currently updating course descriptions and requirements across systems. During this transition, you may still see MGTSC listed in prerequisites or program requirements.

2. BUS 222 has been renumbered to BUS 202

With the introduction of the BUS series of courses (BUS 101, BUS 202, BUS 303 and BUS 404), we have updated old course numbers to accurately reflect the new sequencing. 

  • What This Means for You
    • Course content has not changed
    • You will not receive credit twice for equivalent courses
      • Example: If you completed BUS 222 you will not receive credit for BUS 202
    • If you’ve already taken BUS 222, you do not need to take BUS 202 equivalent to meet pre-/co-requisite requirements
  • Important Note
    • We are currently updating the course description of BUS 202 and requirements across systems. During this transition, you may still see BUS 222 listed in prerequisites or program requirements
