BCom Spirit Cup 2026-2027

 
We’re thrilled for the 2026/2027 BCom Spirit Cup for BUS 101 and BUS 202 BCom students enrolled in either Fall or Winter. Get ready for exciting, inclusive activities that embrace friendly competition, strengthen bonds, and fuel team spirit!

What is Spirit Cup?

BUS 101 and BUS 202 BCom students will be divided into six houses, with each house bringing together a mix of first, second, and upper-year students. Houses can earn points by participating in a variety of events, including networking events, trivia nights and more!

The house with the most points at the end of the academic year will win the Spirit Cup in March 2027, along with a celebration featuring an amazing swag bundle, pizza, handcrafted drinks, activities, and more!

What House Am I Assigned To?

BCom students enrolled in BUS 101 (2026/2027 Academic Year) are assigned to teams based on their seminar section.

Please note that BUS 101 is a prerequisite for higher-level BUS courses in the BUS series, meaning you will need to complete BUS 101 before you can register in subsequent BUS courses. Delaying your BUS 101 registration may therefore impact your ability to register in future BUS courses and could potentially delay your progress through your program.

We strongly encourage you to register at your earliest convenience to ensure you secure a spot and stay on track with your degree requirements.

BCom students enrolled in BUS 202 (2026/2027 Academic Year) will receive an email titled:

"Spirit Cup – Welcome to House [House Name]" and/or "Ready to rep House [House Name]? The House Mixer is TOMORROW!"

If you are unsure of your house assignment or cannot locate the email, please email bcomnity@ualberta.ca with your full name and student ID number, and our team will be happy to assist you.

Spirit Cup is open to all BCom students who is interested in participating.

If you would like to join, please email bcomnity@ualberta.ca, and our team will be happy to assign you to a house.

How Do I Know Which Events Are For Spirit Cup Points?

Events eligible for Spirit Cup points will be identified with this logo.

Spirit Cup Point Breakdown

All activities will use a structured point system, awarding points based on performance and attendance. Point allocation will vary by activity to ensure a fair system that reflects different participation levels.

Spirit Cup 2026-2027 Leaderboard

Points will be tracked on a leaderboard shared on the BCom Spirit Cup website, the ualberta_biz instagram account, the weekly BCom newsletter, and the BUS 101 and BUS 202 Seminar. There will also be a physical leaderboard in the Business Undergraduate Office, BUS 2-20.

Is Spirit Cup open to upper-year BCom students?

Yes, absolutely! Spirit Cup is open to all BCom students who are interested in participating. If you would like to join, please email bcomnity@ualberta.ca, and our team will be happy to assign you to a house.

 

What does the Winning House Receive?

The house with the most points at the end of the academic year will win the Spirit Cup in March 2027, along with a celebration featuring an amazing swag bundle, pizza, handcrafted drinks, activities, and more!

Eligibility: You must be a BCom student to be eligible to participate. To ensure fairness and recognize participation, BCom students must have earned a minimum of 3 Spirit Cup points to attend the celebration.

Team Spirit Award: In addition, the three students from each house with the highest event attendance will be invited to attend, enjoy the celebration, receive a prize, and take part in the activities alongside their peers.
