Program overview

• Program available in French only.
• This program aims to prepare current and future managers in early childhood education to take on the strategic, administrative, and people-related responsibilities associated with leadership roles in this field. Through the three courses that make up this certificate, learners acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure effective governance, rigorous operational and financial management, and compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks. The program also emphasizes motivational, ethical, and inclusive leadership, particularly within the context of a Francophone minority language community. By strengthening skills in communication, human resources management, collaboration with families and community partners, and inclusive educational leadership, the program aims to support the creation of safe, equitable, and sustainable early childhood environments that are deeply rooted in their communities and tailored to children’s needs and well-being.
• Three online courses, each lasting 20 hours, delivered asynchronously, so you can study at your own pace. There are no prerequisites for the courses.
• No prerequisites for enrolment.

 

Course Descriptions

• EXCSJ 6304 - The Role of the Manager: Responsibilities, Framework and Structures – 20 hours. This course covers the fundamentals of managing early childhood education settings. It explores the role of the manager, governance structures, and the legal and ethical frameworks governing childcare services. The focus is on day-to-day administration and on collaboration with families, partners, and government bodies. The course aims to equip learners to ensure effective management that complies with regulations and is centred on the well-being and development of the child.

• EXCSJ 6305 - Leadership, Communication and Resource Management – 20 hours. This course aims to develop essential skills in leadership, communication, and resource management within early childhood education settings. It covers creating a healthy working environment, managing human resources, and conducting complex professional conversations. The course also explores the fundamentals of financial management, including budgets, sources of funding, and accountability, particularly within non-profit organisations. Emphasis is placed on ethical and collaborative management practices that are tailored to the realities of the sector.

• EXCSJ 6306 - Inclusion, Sustainability, Reconciliation, and Innovation – 20 hours. This course explores inclusive and innovative practices that promote quality and equity in early childhood education settings. It focuses on building trusting relationships with families, pedagogical leadership, and embracing diversity within a Francophone minority context. The course also addresses the role of educational services in reconciliation, environmental sustainability, and the integration of digital tools. It aims to support committed, respectful educational practices that are adapted to today’s realities.
