During peak periods, graduate students will be able to devote at most a few minutes to any one student seeking help.  Here are a few tips on getting the most out of your visit:

  • Be specific about the problem for which you are seeking help.
  • Give the person helping you some time to read the problem.
  • Be prepared to show the work that you have done so far, and try to articulate where you are getting stuck or what you do not understand about the problem.
  • Do not expect the person helping you to simply show you how to do the problem; instead, be open to try the options that the person helping you suggests.
  • If you have not yet attempted the problem then your TA will likely just ensure that you understand what is being asked.
