Understanding Science degrees
We offer four undergraduate degree types for you to choose from, each differing by their level of focus and academic expectations.
BSc / BEd COMBINED
This is a five year dual program for students wishing to teach science at the secondary level. Students must select from seven major/minor combinations and follow a specific course curriculum that will ultimately allow them to graduate with two degrees; a BSc Specialization as well as a Secondary BEd degree.
GPA: a minimum 2.3 required to remain in good standing
Course load: Full time. A minimum *24 -30 credit course load is required.
GENERAL
The General program is highly customizable with a breadth of topics to study. It includes a major and minor (or double major), which allows students to design their degree around two areas of interest. Students have the option to keep their program broad or delve deeper into a discipline of their choice.
GPA: Minimum 2.0 required to remain in good standing
Course load: Full-time or part-time.
SPECIALIZATION
The Specialization degrees are for students who wish to focus on one specific discipline within science. Students follow a carefully planned curriculum that will train them in their field of study while still allowing for a handful of electives. Some programs will provide the necessary background for admission to graduate studies.
GPA: Range from 2.3 - 2.7 to remain in good standingCourse load: Full-time. Most programs require a minimum *24 credit course load.
HONORS
The Honors degrees are for students looking for in-depth training in a specific field of science, who are interested in scientific research and are considering graduate studies later on.
GPA: Range from 3.0 - 3.3 to remain in good standing
Course load: Full-time. Most programs require a minimum *24-30 credit course load.
