Applying for the Roger S. Smith Undergraduate Researcher Award

This award is intended to cultivate and support research partnerships between undergraduate students and faculty members.

There are approximately 15 awards available, each worth $5000. This amount is intended to provide for 14 weeks (or ~330 hours) of student lead research-based activity over the summer months (mid-May to mid-August).

All awards will be made to selected full-time, continuing undergraduate students enrolled in the Faculty of Arts.

Please note that successful applicants will be expected to participate in a poster display in early September. You are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to disseminate your research. Your poster will be displayed on the University of Alberta campus.

Eligibility

Applicants must be a full-time, continuing student registered in a Faculty of Arts degree program. Please review the Program Guide document linked below for the full set of eligibility criteria. Applicants must meet all eligibility criteria outlined in the Guide.

Application Deadline

4:00 pm; March 1st (If this date falls on a holiday or weekend, applications will be accepted until the following business day.)
Applications must be received as a single PDF with documents in the order specified in the Program Guide document linked below. Hard copies will not be accepted for adjudication.

All students will be notified of the status of their application by May 15.
