The Devils

Written by: John WHITING

Directed by: David Kennedy

April 5–15, 2023*

Religious faith, spiritual doubt, and earthly politics intersect in this gripping tale of a provincial French town that comes to believe its parish priest is an instrument of the Devil. When an inquisition into the demonic possession of the nuns of the Convent of St. Ursula identifies Father Grandier as the source, his powerful enemies in both church and state conspire to destroy him. Based on actual events in the 17th-century town of Loudun, The Devils forcefully depicts a factional and dangerous society overcome by hysteria.

Please be advised that this production contains subject matter and depictions of a sexual nature, as well as a depiction of attempted suicide, and bright lights and loud sounds.
