Partnering with CSL

The CSL Program works to pair community partners with courses that have similar goals and vision. We recognize that just as every community organization is unique, so is each CSL course. Our pairing of partners with courses works to reflect this. In a standard CSL course, each student spends 20 hours throughout the semester with a community organization. Through time at their placements, course assignments, and community mentoring, students are able to meaningfully explore the relationship between course material and community experiences. As community partners, organizations have a significant opportunity to play a co-educating role in students' education.

Integrating CSL into your organization takes some planning and preparation. As such, interested community partners are encouraged to contact the CSL Program at least six months prior to the start of the term in which they hope to be involved with CSL.

To ensure that your organization is considered for the upcoming Fall/Winter term, we recommend that all community partners indicate their intention to participate in CSL by May 30th/October 15th respectively. However, project ideas are accepted on an ongoing basis.

If you are interested in partnering with CSL, please contact our Partnership Coordinators at cslpartc@ualberta.ca.

We are happy to sit down with you and help you plan a CSL partnership that contributes to the work that your organization is already engaged in, or help to create a partnership that uses students' unique and specific strengths to contribute something unique to your organization.
