CUP/ECN researcher Kirsty Choquette receives Mitacs Award

Kirsty earned the prestigious award for her work developing an inclusive evaluation framework to ensure Indigenous youth in the province's care feel represented as they leave the system.

Kirsty is a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Education's school and clinical child psychology program, and her dissertation focuses on Indigenous approaches to child rearing in one First Nation in Alberta.

Kirsty's research has involved engagement Indigenous Elders, knowledge keepers, evaluators, and community members, which has led to the creation of an evaluation framework to help ensure Indigenous youth in the province's care feel represented when they leave the system.

Kirsty and her work were featured in an Innovator Spotlight by YouAlberta.

Her award was also covered by Postmedia.
