Governor's Challenge Presentations

Governor's Challenge UofA Team 2023-24

The Bank of Canada has recently posted the latest pictures of the Governor's Challenge competition. This year, the University of Alberta team included five students from our undergraduate Economics program: Danny Lu, Anh Nguyen, Faiza Noor, Hansen Shu, and Amritpal Singh. They were coached by our colleagues from the Department of Economics, Malik Shukayev and Max Sties. The team worked hard and made an impressive presentation to the Bank of Canada judges.

Congratulations to the team members and their coaches!

Here is the video of the presentation of the team of undergraduate students from the University of Alberta. The video of all the Governor’s challenge presentations from the final round is here.

A few interesting facts about the competition

The 2023/24 was the ninth year of the Governor's Challenge competition. About 25 teams of undergraduate students from Canadian universities compete every year. The University of Alberta participated eight times, starting from the second tournament. The University of Alberta team was the finalist in this prestigious competition six times. UofA was the National Champion twice, in 2021 and 2023. The Bank of Canada hired eight of our undergraduate students who participated in the Governor's Challenge. Four of them are currently employed by the Bank of Canada. Keep up the great work UofA Economics!
