Prospective Students

Students

The Department of Economics offers the following programs:
Course-based Masters in Economics (1 year)
Course-based Masters in Economics and Finance (2 year)
Thesis based PhD Economics (minimum 4 years)

For the benefit of incoming graduate students, the department offers a two-week Math Refresher prior to the start of the Fall term. The refresher provides a systematic review of the mathematical techniques used in modern economic theory and econometrics. Topics to be covered include linear algebra, real analysis and optimization techniques. The Math Refresher is not offered for credit but all new Economics graduate students are strongly encouraged to participate. Our experience has shown that familiarity with a range of relevant mathematical techniques is an important factor in a students' subsequent success in their program. Instructors of graduate courses will assume familiarity with all material included in the Math Refresher. This course is free of charge and does not appear on the students' transcript. Students are expected to attend both the morning and afternoon session for the two week period. There are no textbooks required for this course. All incoming students will be sent an invitation to attend in June. MORE INFORMATION
