Dr. Denise Larsen, a professor in the Department of Educational Psychology and Associate Dean Research, has been named a Canadian Psychological Association Fellow.
This honour recognizes Larsen’s distinguished contribution to the advancement of the profession of psychology along with her service to the association.
In addition to her other roles, Larsen is the director of Hope Studies Central, the only research unit in the world devoted to the study of hope in human living. For more than a decade, Larsen has researched the role of hope for those suffering from serious physical and emotional illness.
“I’m delighted to see Dr. Larsen’s vital contributions acknowledged by Canada’s leading psychological association,” Dean of Education Jennifer Tupper said. “It confirms to her professional peers what her colleagues and students in the Faculty already know—that she conducts her important work with integrity, rigour and an unflagging commitment to the wellbeing of others.”
The Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) is the national association for the science, practice and education of psychology in Canada. With over 7,000 members and affiliates, the CPA is Canada’s largest association for psychology.
