Application Process

1) Review the admission requirements for the program you are applying for. Please also review the application and document deadlines.

These are available in the Admissions section of the Faculty of Education website. Application and document deadlines can be found in the University Calendar.

2) Submit your University of Alberta application through the Undergraduate Admissions System.

You may apply online! Your application is not submitted until the application fee has been paid.

The University of Alberta has a new application system called Launchpad! This new application system will allow you to check your application status, upload documents, and more.

3) Receive your U of A student ID number and Campus Computing ID.

You should receive an email with your U of A student ID number and your Campus Computing ID (CCID) within two business days of submitting your application. Your CCID allows you to access many services, including your U of A email account. Important communications are sent to your U of A email account, so activate it as soon as possible and check it frequently. Please provide your U of A student ID number for any inquiries about your application.

4) View your Checklist in Launchpad and submit all required documents before the document deadline

Once your application has been submitted, a personalized Checklist of outstanding items will be posted in your Launchpad account. The Launchpad Checklist outlines all transcripts and other documentation required for your evaluation.

To log in to your Launchpad, you will need the email address you used to create your application and your password.

Your Launchpad Checklist may require that you upload copies of your official transcripts/documents. If so, then please follow the prompts in Launchpad to upload copies of (up to date) official transcripts/documents.

Your Launchpad Checklist may also require that official and complete transcripts be sent directly form the issuing institution. If that is the case, then ensure you submit all of the official documents to the Office of the Registrar by the applicable document deadline. Official transcripts will only be accepted if received directly from the issuing institution or applicable ministry.

Official and complete documents should be submitted to:

Office of the Registrar and Student Awards
University of Alberta
201 Administration Building
Edmonton AB
T6G 2M7

If you are an international applicant and have questions about your required documents or are unable to have documents sent directly from your previous school, please contact the Student Service Centre.

5) Check your U of A email and Launchpad regularly.

If your file is missing anything we will email your U of A email only. Any updates regarding your application, will also be sent to your U of A email.

Your Launchpad account will also be updated as your application progresses through the evaluation process. As an applicant, you are responsible for being aware of any updates, checklists, and requests for information sent to your U of A email and/or posted in your Launchpad.

6) Apply for residence if you wish to live in on-campus housing.

Visit for complete details and deadlines.

7) Apply for scholarships, awards, and financial assistance if applicable.

Visit the Faculty of Education Scholarships and Awards page for complete details.

8) Check for admission decisions in Launchpad

You will be notified via email when a decision has been made or if we have an update to the status of your application. If an offer of admission has been extended or if your application was refused it will be reflected in Launchpad. If you do not yet meet the competitive AGPA for your program this status should also be in Launchpad.

9) If admitted, view your personalized Program Sheet to see what courses you have to complete to earn your BEd and, if applicable, to see which previously completed courses were used to meet degree requirements.

Once admitted the Faculty of Education will provide you with a personalized Program Sheet. If you have previously completed any course work that is considered equivalent to courses in the BEd Program you are admitted to, we will note this on your Program Sheet. Students in the 4-year program will have Transfer Credit awarded and those in the After Degree will have the requirements noted as met.

10) Accept your admission offer and pay your tuition deposit.

Admission offers must be accepted in Launchpad. Undergraduate students new to the UofA must submit a nonrefundable tuition deposit to confirm their admission and their intention to register (the tuition deposit will count toward your total tuition cost). More information about the tuition deposit and payment options can be found on the Financial Services site

11) Register for classes.

Use Bear Tracks to view your enrolment date (this is the date you can start registering in classes for both Fall and Winter) and to register for your classes.

The course sequencing for our BEd programs is provided to each student upon admission on their personalized Program Sheets and can also be found in the Calendar. Student will either look at the 4-year Degree of BEd requirements or the After Degree Program requirements.

For assistance with Bear Tracks, the Bear Tracks User Guide provides a manual as well as video tutorials. We also provide Registration workshops and Tip Sheets to help with Registration.

12) Continue to check your U of A email and Launchpad.

We continue to send information to your U of A email account including important information about the Faculty of Education, orientation, course changes, etc.

If you have been offered admission with conditions, it is important to check your Launchpad to track your application to its completion.

13) Attend orientation.

Students should attend both the university-wide new student orientation provided by the Students' Union as well as the Faculty of Education Welcome Event.

14) Pay your tuition.

Your fee assessment will be available in Bear Tracks. Refer to the University Calendar for more information about tuition and fees and visit the Financial Services website for more information about tuition payment options.
