What do International Students Need to Know?

International students who would like to participate in the Co-op program need to be aware of the following:

Students must continue to meet all applicable Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) requirements. As of April 1, 2026, international students are no longer required to obtain a separate Co-op Work Permit to participate in a co-op work term. Additional information will be provided once students have confirmed their acceptance to the Co-op Program.
International students must pay the Co-op application and program fee; however, WKEXP tuition is included in their Program Tuition Guarantee. Participating in the Co-op Program does not increase the total guaranteed tuition amount required for your degree; rather, it may accelerate the timeline on which that tuition is assessed. Once a student's guaranteed tuition has been fully paid, they are responsible only for applicable non-instructional fees for any remaining terms. Tuition is assessed during co-op work terms because students are registered in a WKEXP course, until their program tuition has already been fully paid.
