Kolyada Workshop with Marichka Marczyk

Join the Kule Folklore Centre's staff and students at noon MST on January 14th as we celebrate Ukrainian winter holidays with Marichka Marczyk. Marichka, a past KuFC Folklore Lunch presenter, will provide Ukrainian lyrics and English transliteration of several Ukrainian kolyady (Christmas carols) that you can follow as she sings. She will also share some Eastern European winter traditions.
Marichka Marczyk is an ethnomusicologist and singer with the Ukrainian Canadian musical groups Balaklava Blues and Lemon Bucket Orkestra. She founded the digital archive www.folk-ukraine.com and cofounded the "Bozychi" folk ensemble, and completed a degree in Ethnomusicology from the National Academy of Music in Ukraine.
