Supreme Court justice returns to alma mater for International Week

Justice Sheilah Martin of the Supreme Court of Canada returned to the University of Alberta on February 9 to deliver a keynote speech on the importance of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

In addition to the address by Martin, ‘83 LLM, the event featured welcoming remarks from Cen Huang, Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President International; Vasant Chotai, president of Canadians for a Civil Society; Dean Marvin Washington of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities; and a discussion with Professor Eric Adams of the Faculty of Law. The evening ended with a reception.

The event was jointly hosted by the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Arts, the Centre for Constitutional Studies, the Collaborative College Community Initiative (C3I), and the non-profit community organization the Canadians for a Civil Society.
