BScN Collaborative Program Electives & Support

Students who started:

Fall 2018

The BScN Collaborative degree was revised in Fall 2018. Students admitted to the program beginning Fall 2018 follow the course sequence in the University Calendar.

The structure of the BScN Collaborative program changed from the degree in previous calendars, and students admitted are required to complete one - 3 credit of elective coursework. An elective is any university level course in any subject.

Fall 2017

Students admitted to the program beginning Fall 2017 are transitioned into the new curriculum as per the course sequence in the University Calendar.

Students are now required to complete 12 credits of elective coursework. An elective is any university level course in any subject. Students have the opportunity to explore studies of their interest and choosing; however, at least three credits of elective study must come from the social sciences or behavioral sciences.

Listed below are the abbreviations for acceptable courses from the social or behavioral sciences at the University of Alberta:
ANTHE, ANTHR, ECON, ECONE, HGP, POL S, PSYCE, PSYCO, R SOC, SOCIE, SOC, WGS.

Out of Sequence Students

Students who become out of sequence, may be required to complete coursework from the new curriculum or transfer to the new curriculum (due to the 2018 curriculum being phased out). As a result, students may be required to follow a unique course sequence not specifically stated in the University calendar. An alternate course sequence (program map) will be provided to the student from the Undergraduate Office which will state the courses the student must complete and the total credit load so that students fulfill the credit load requirements from the year they were admitted.
