When is the event?
Science FUNday 2024 will take place Saturday, March 16 from 10am to 4 pm.
Parents/guardians must accompany minors for the duration of the event. Tickets are needed for your entire party. We do not charge a fee for parents/guardians, but they still need tickets.
Is there a fee to attend the event?
There is a nominal fee of $5 per participant from ages 5 to 12.
Why is there a fee?
Science FUNday has grown in size over the years—approximately 2500 guests attend each year! The event relies heavily on student volunteers, sponsorships, grants, and donations. We have introduced a nominal fee to assist with recovering event costs (e.g. demo materials, cleaning, etc.) and to ensure that the event offers the best possible experience for all young scientists who will participate, learn, and experiment!
All remaining proceeds following cost recovery will go towards preparing the next Science FUNday as well as Science FUNdamentals’ regular classroom programming throughout the year. The student group and registered charity conducts experiments throughout the year in classrooms all over the city of Edmonton. Kind donations greatly help support Science FUNdamental’s efforts to continue showing kids how awesome science can be.
How do I register for the event?
The event is now at capacity. We will not be taking walk-up participants the day of the event.
How do I register for tours?
Tours will not take registration in 2024, but will have capacity limits. Guests may line up no earlier than 15 minutes before each tour departs, and must have all of their party with them to be placed into a line. A full schedule of departing tour times will be given to guests at check in. Please respect that our spaces have limited capacity.
Is there flexibility regarding the entry time?
There is plenty of flexibility with when you attend FUNday. The event is come and go as you please.
Where do I get my FUNday tickets? Do I need to print my email confirmation?
There is no need to print off your confirmation emails, just arrive at the check-in desk and provide the names of registered guests.
We can no longer attend the event. What can we do?
All cancellations for refunds must be received in writing by email to scifun@ualberta.ca by February 28. Refunds will take 7-10 business days to process.

My child is very interested in biology and chemistry. What do you have and where will these features be located?
The Science FUNday schedule and map will be sent in a “see you there email” two weeks before the event. Demo booths, presentation halls, bathrooms, first aid, etc. are all located on the map. Volunteers will also be happy to direct you.
