Internal Peer Review
The College of Social Sciences and Humanities Office of Research offers an internal, pre-submission, peer review service for academic faculty members applying for SSHRC grants. Participation is voluntary, but past experience suggests that pre-submission feedback from an insightful reader helps greatly to improve an applicant's chance of competition success. Deadlines apply to ensure time for matching applicants. Many members of the CSSH Panel of Peer Reviewers are senior colleagues with prior experience on SSHRC adjudication committees. All have been nominated to the panel by the Faculty Associate Deans Research.
The SSHRC Insight Development Peer Review Program (Winter 2024) is now closed.
By December 5, 2023 we received 28 requests for peer review matching for the SSHRC Insight Development Grant. The deadlines for this program were as follows:
- October 1: Opening of application registration portal for SSHRC Insight Development Grant peer review.
- December 5 (Extended deadline): Registration closes, applicant-reviewer matching begins
- January 4: Deadline for provision of application to the peer reviewer
- January 11: Date by which the peer reviewer will return feedback to the applicant
- January 18*: Date applications should normally be submitted in your Researcher Homepage for U of A internal approvals
- January 22: RSO/RAS for institutional full administrative review and sign-off
*Please note that the Faculty Associate Dean Research might need to adjust this date slightly.
