BioBlitz: October 1 - 31, 2023 in Jasper National Park

If you’re looking for a family-friendly way to enjoy Jasper National Park during your visit, you’ve come to the right place!

What is a BioBlitz?

Simply speaking, it’s a real, live treasure hunt! A BioBlitz is a communal effort by people like you and me, who go out and record as many species as you can within a specific area in a specific time frame.

How do I get started?

We’ve put together a scavenger hunt sheet to help get you started! From lichen to plants to bugs to birds to mammals and beyond, we want you to spy with your little eye and your iNaturalist app (iOS, Android)

We put together a quick instructional video (below) in 2021 on how to get set up and how to use the iNaturalist app. All the instructions are the same for the BioBlitz this year, just make sure to search 'WISEST Bioblitz 2023' instead of 'WISEST Bioblitz 2021'.  Or download a PDF of the instructions.

What happens with the data?

Scientists from all over the world can conduct studies from the data you and I collect as community scientists, also known as citizen scientists

Download the scavenger hunt sheet

Good luck on your scavenger hunt!
