WISEST Strategic Plan 2020 – 2024

Vision Statement: Advancing diversity while empowering women in STEM

In April 2018, a core planning group organization began meeting to chart out a strategic plan for WISEST and its future. With the support of the amazing team from the U of A’s Strategic and Transformational Change unit of Human Resource Services, this group began meeting regularly. Throughout the process, WISEST stakeholders were engaged and consulted through two surveys and a one day retreat. A culmination of many hours of brainstorming, consultation, collaboration, and many, many, many post-it notes, we arrived at a blueprint that we know will help guide WISEST as it grows and responds to the many challenges we face. It was with great enthusiasm that this plan was presented and approved by the WISEST board in February 2020 and we look forward to seeing the plan grow and change as it is implemented. Thank you to all those who participated, gave feedback, and provided a diversity of perspectives. Also, thank you to Megan McDougald, Alan Day, and Dale Ressor for providing valuable guidance in this process. We invite you to learn more about the four goals we have set for the next five years, which include:

  1. Secure Sustainable Funding
  2. Demonstrate our Impact
  3. Understand our Place
  4. Strategize our Programming

It truly is an exciting time for us as we dream about what the future could look like for WISEST and for diversity in STEM fields. We invite you to continue to support and join us on this journey.
