WISEST Ambassadors - Co-op Students

Women in Scholarship, Engineering, Science and Technology (WISEST) has opportunities for Co-op students! As an ambassador for WISEST in your Co-op placement, you will have an opportunity to represent a well-known and long-standing organization that promotes diversity in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). By showing your dedication to STEM field diversity and inclusion at your workplace, this role will give you the opportunity to raise your profile within your placement, add value to your employer, and enhance your capacity to secure permanent employment in the future. You will be able to highlight skills that you might not have the opportunity to demonstrate in the day-to-day work of your Co-op placement.  A successful WISEST Ambassador will be able to display their leadership and public speaking skills to their new peers and leverage this experience to further their growth as a young professional.

The time commitment is minimal whilst in your placement, ranging from a few minutes to a few hours per week, depending on what your capacity is in your Co-op role.  You would be responsible for attempting to connect WISEST to appropriate staff within your organization and/or arranging for WISEST to visit the organization to deliver a workshop or lunch and learn. Successful applicants will need to invest 3-4 hours for orientation, with the support of the WISEST External Relations team of professionals and a WISEST toolkit to guide you in your ambassador journey.

The WISEST External Relations team is comprised of experienced STEM professionals, ranging from industry executives to accomplished academic scholars. They will provide you with all the necessary information and resources you will need to ensure you are successful in your work placement as a WISEST ambassador.

To apply, please submit your resume or CV to express interest in this volunteer role to the WISEST External Relations Committee Chair, Lisa White at lnwhite@ualberta.ca.
