Chair in Beef Production Systems
ALES and the Beef Cattle Research Council (BCRC) are pursuing the creation of a Research Chair in Beef Production Systems to increase the economic, environmental and social sustainability of Canadian beef production.
Emerging Priorities
The Dean's Fund for Excellence provides the faculty with the flexibility to support and direct initiatives and needs important to the success of our faculty. It provides seed funding for new initiatives and supports academic programs, technology, facility enhancements, research assistance, student activities and much more.
Field School
Field School takes students in the Department of Renewable Resources right to the forest for three weeks before their third year of study. For many, this is the highlight of their program. They develop practical skills, deepen friendships and confront the complexities of wildland management.
Work-Integrated & Experiential Learning
Work-integrated and experiential learning opportunities are critical in providing students with a comprehensive education. In ALES, we provide field schools, internships, practicums, community-service learning and other initiatives that give students the chance to apply classroom learning in real-life situations. The ALES Centennial Dutch Endowment Travel and Experiential Learning Award
Established by alumnus Wes van der Lee, the endowment helps future leaders of Alberta agriculture by providing then with an opportunity to access international education at the higher learning institutions and industry in the Netherlands, the world's second largest exporter of agricultural products.
