Post-Secondary Transfer

Students applying from another post-secondary institution or students who have completed some post-secondary coursework must:

  • Meet subject requirements listed for high school admission and any required pre-professional study.
  • Present a competitive admission Grade Point Average (GPA).

If you present fewer than 24 units of transferable course work, your admission will be determined by both your high school average and your post-secondary GPA.

Admission GPA

Admission to the Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences is competitive. The number of high school and transfer admissions or readmissions to the Faculty may be limited in any given year depending on the number of applicants and their qualifications. Presentation of the minimum application requirements does not guarantee admission. Applicants will be assessed on the basis of their academic records.

Transfer Credit

Transfer credit assessments are not completed until after a student has applied and official transcripts have been received. Once final transcripts are received, previous coursework is compared to the requirements of the new program and credit is given where appropriate overlap and sufficient grades exist.

Although a course may be considered transferable to UAlberta, it may not fit within the program to which a student has applied.

Due to volume, we cannot assess transfer credit (in person, via phone or email) prior to admission.

Transfer students within Alberta may use the Alberta Transfer Guide as a resource.
