What is CRINA?

The Cancer Research Institute of Northern Alberta (CRINA) is a pan-university institute that brings together over 120 researchers from eight faculties: Medicine & Dentistry, Science, Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Nursing, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kinesiology, Sport and Recreation, and Rehabilitation Medicine.

CRINA facilitates:

  • Impactful discoveries by supporting research infrastructure, personnel and collaborations
  • Translation on all levels; increasing commercialization, knowledge translation and clinical uptake-from benchside, through boardroom to bedside and back


To be an internationally competitive comprehensive cancer institute with excellence in cancer research and education; wherein clinical outcomes are addressed with scientific inquiry and where research drives innovations in cancer prevention, treatment and survivorship.
