Health Information Science (or Informatics) is the interdisciplinary science the uses the power of information technology to improve healthcare. Informatics is not just about computers as the speciality draws from many different disciplines. 

The Department of Critical Care Medicine is uniquely positioned in Canada with eCritical. This province-wide Critical Care information system connects all intensive care units in Alberta to a single network to provide next-level data analytics through our TRACER data warehouse. The Department collaborates with international organizations, national critical care research networks and individual universities to enhance patient care and research.
