Welcome Matthew Douma and Michael Russell

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Matthew Douma and Dr. Michael Russell to the Department of Critical Care Medicine.

Mr. Douma joins us as an Assistant Adjunct professor. As a doctoral student in nursing and health services his current research networks include Edmonton metro emergency medical services, Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service (STARS), critical care fixed wing transport, Edmonton zone emergency departments and the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital.

Dr. Russell joins us as Clinical Lecturer Secondary. He is an active participant and regional champion for many provincial initiatives in critical care, including ARDS management, rapid response systems, delirium and medical informatics. Dr. Russell will lead and implement research affiliated with the Department and University at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. So far in the past year, this has included acting as site PI for the STARRT-AKI and PEPTIC trials and an observational study evaluating best practices for family participation in ICU rounds
